We recently read on social media where someone had gotten mildly disgusted with the frequency and substance of commercials they’d seen on TV for Accident Injury Attorneys. One, in particular, upset them more than the others (you might guess which one). Furthermore, they were completely flabbergasted when we suggested, if they were ever the victims of an accident, they might seek his counsel and retain him for their case. Sounds a little out of the ordinary for an Insurance Agent to say, we know. But let us explain why in a manner which we firmly believe.
We FIRMLY believe in one’s personal responsibility to oneself, their community and their fellow man. Drivers don’t frequently contemplate the results of a sudden
impact trauma to their bodies while carefully driving, hands on the wheel at 8 & 4, wearing their seat belts, going down the road at or under the posted 35 mph speed limit. But consider this. A 190 pound occupant involved in a sudden impact crash at 35 mph absorbs just under 50 G’s of force on their body. So, let us ask, how would your body react to that amount of force and how long would it take to fully recover, if full recovery were even possible, after a crash of this everyday magnitude. Worse yet, what if the crash happened while traveling down the highway at 55 or even 70 mph. Now you might be talking in excess of 195 G’s. If organs and/or appendages were damaged, will your recovery be speedy and medically economical? Probably not. What if your injuries were fatal? What of your surviving family?
While often ridiculously portrayed, the importance (to the victims)
of legal wrangling for sizable settlements following an accident of any magnitude, for the purpose of covering sustained emergency medical, probable surgery, rehabilitation, long recovery, lost earnings, disability and punitive damage expenses, is invaluable. Getting back to our stand on personal responsibility, why should the victim be concerned with baring the expenses resulting from another’s irresponsible actions? Truthfully, they shouldn’t. This is why you’ll always be offered higher limits of Liability and Uninsured Motorist along with Umbrella coverage with additional limits of Liability and Uninsured Motorist coverage as our part of our basic policy recommendation.
Don’t leave your life up to chance, or worse yet, the other guy. Be protected, not surprised. Get more than you’re already paying for. Come see us. We’ll explain the why’s and how’s to avoiding bankruptcy after an accident.

The recent news is how many homeowners find they’re being abandoned by the insurance carriers they’ve been loyal to for some 10, 20 even 30 or more years. State Farm, for example, has been cancelling members of their long-time faithful for having ONE too many claims. The key factor seems to be when policy holders had so much as ONE non-weather related (water, fire, theft, liability, etc.) claim over the last five years, they were marked for cancellation. Tennessee Farm Bureau, after reducing their Homeowners policy coverages, is declining all new applicants if they have ANY homeowner claims over the last three years.
While having multiple claims over the past five years, weather and/or non-weather type, will mark insureds
with a BIG RED X on their backs in the eyes of most all carriers, having one claim shouldn’t merit anyone being cancelled. We recently picked up one of those abandoned who’d been cancelled after having only ONE claim over the last seven years; a $12,138 claim for water damage caused by the clothes washer bursting a hose in the upstairs utility room. We were able to secure them with a new home/auto package policy with 33% more home coverage, 700% more home and auto liability coverage while keeping them (better) protected for the same premium they’d paid for the preceding year.

stay aware of the weather conditions in your area. Freakishly strong storms pummeled the Midwest yesterday and will make their way through Tennessee tonight, tomorrow and again in weeks and months to come.
This season, many Homeowners will find themselves unpleasantly surprised following their first claim in years, only to discover their Homeowners Insurance carriers have subtly altered the coverages they once had.Carriers like Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Farm Bureau among others, have modified portions of their Homeowners coverage, implementing increased deductibles for Wind and Hail Damage or even diminishing settlement dollars to Actual Cash Value from their former Full Replacement Cost coverage, all as a means of curtailing payouts. What this will mean for Homeowners following a loss, is more Out of Pocket Costs for repairs after these ever more frequent weather conditions.
